The sculpture Brick to Dust (Dust to Brick) depicts the gentle act of repairing an object that seems negligable at first sight. For this, two damaged red bricks from a house refurbishment in Rotterdam were collected. One was broken down into powder form to further be used as an aggregate in a mix with gypsum. This mix was in a next step used to repair the broken edges and holes of the other brick.
With referal towards the wasteful practices of the modern construction sector, this piece demonstrates how novel and simple beauty can emerge from already disposed components in our environment.
